Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the planning and scheduling electrical statutory planned preventative maintenance (PPM’s) delivered by Sussex Estates and Facilities LLP to the University of Sussex.
The role involves working closely with the electrical managing team, sub-contractors and facilities managers in order to meet completion target dates, meeting with university stakeholders and scheduling works around university operations. You will be providing technical expertise and support for the planning and scheduling of planned electrical maintenance activities and to some extent specific projects that may overlap with the planned maintenance activities, while ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to all works ensuring equipment availability and that work orders have Materials, Labour, Special Tools, Safety Permits defined.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and schedule workflow including corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance work, project support and normal operations tasks to meet priority demands, and long and short term projects
- It will mainly be scheduling power outages for critical electrical maintenance/installations so technical background and electrical knowledge will be highly beneficial
- Providing support where back-up generation is required
- Establish and maintain a good relationship with key stakeholders and facilities managers through appropriate communication and notifications of planned works
- Assist Electrical Manager with detailed resource planning, including people, plant and materials
- Balance preventive maintenance work schedules while providing timely customer service on work orders
- Follow-up, problem-solve, trouble-shoot processes, communicating scheduling information and status of maintenance work issues with customers and staff
- Determine work plans based upon accessibility, priority, available work force, and other criteria, review plans and schedules with associated management
- Determine material and supply needs in order to process requisitions, stores orders, or surplus materials as applicable
- Identifies and obtains materials and equipment required to execute the requested work
- Ensuring all company policies and safety tools are either built in to work orders or are being used to complete work orders
- Monitor, track, review, and analyse scheduled work
- Enter, manipulate, analyse and extract data using a computer maintenance program
Knowledge Skills & Experience
- Capable in demonstrating experience and knowledge in planning and scheduling
- Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project (not a must)
- Ability to follow through on planned tasks and purchase orders from initiation to completion of those tasks
- Ability to provide completion & snagging reports to support compliance
- Ability to create a maintenance schedule for planned maintenance
- Can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Suitable practical & technical competence
- H&S qualification in CITB or IOSH
